Big Rig Accident Leaves Woman Dead on 5 Freeway in San Juan Capistrano, CA
The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal accident on I-5 that left one woman dead in Orange County, CA. The unidentified woman was struck when she stopped her sedan on the 5 freeway in San Juan Capistrano and got out of the vehicle. Shortly after exiting her car she was hit by a tractor-trailer and killed Saturday morning, February 29, 2020.
The deadly accident occurred during the early morning hours in the San Juan Capistrano area of I-5 in Orange County. It is unclear why the woman stopped her vehicle. She had pulled over on the shoulder on the road and the collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. The woman was reported dead at the scene when CHP officers arrived. The driver of the truck has not been charged with a crime and did not receive a citation for violation the California Motor Vehicle Code.
Officers who arrived at the scene noticed a big rig jackknifed near the center divider of the freeway. The semi-truck was blocking the three left lanes of the road when CHP officers arrived at the scene of the accident. It was after the officers made it closer through the rumble that they noticed the dead woman. The woman involved in the car accident has not been identified to the media.
